It's hard to believe, but we're already halfway through summer! Which means that it'll soon be time to start preparing for the upcoming school year. In Baltimore City, and in many other counties around the state, school starts on Monday, August 31.

With that in mind, the Public Justice Center is planning a back-to-school training around the educational rights and protections available to students experiencing homelessness and students in foster care, including in the context of early education, K-12, and higher education.
All are welcome, including homeless services providers, and any families/youth who feel that this information is useful to them. Breakfast will be served!
In addition, in an effort to raise awareness about youth homelessness and education and expand participation in our conversation, we will be live tweeting the event and taking questions via Twitter.  We’re at @publjusticecntr and the short link to this page is Before the 19th, please join the PJC in using the hashtag #NoPlaceLikeSchoolMD to tweet and gain momentum for the event. On the 19th, use the hashtag to ask questions, follow the discussion, and raise awareness of the rights of homeless youth.

Please RSVP to Monisha Cherayil by email ( and let her know if you'll attend and how many others you expect to bring.
